Performs quality comparisons of manufactured and purchased parts to established applicable standards, noting all items of nonconformance with quality and reliability standards.
Recommends modifications to existing, or suggests new standards, methods, or procedures.
This position would typically require one to three years' experience and technical training.
The job consists of calibrating quality control tools (like calipers, micrometers and scales) and certifying that they are correctly calibrated, auditing returns/damages to see why the metal is getting returned (this would involve clerical work), working on floor to help to streamline quality control procedures on the line, and helping production Manager out with paperwork and reporting.
They are auditing quality on the production line, so once trained, they have to be someone able to address employees about the quality of their work if it's not meeting the necessary criteria.
